About

// I'm not a girl, I'm a storm with skin. //

Thunderstorms are some of the most beautiful things. Ever since I was a little girl, I adored the sound of rolling thunder in the distance; the flashes of light illuminating the billowy clouds.
Thunderstorms can be loud, chaotic and full of exuberant drama. Thunder is the music of the heavens, a grandiose orchestra of riveting power. Lighting, the reason for thunder, is visually stunning yet terror-evoking.
Now, I don't dare compare myself to a thunderstorm, because that would be silly. I couldn't ever do such a phenomenon justice. I'm just a mere human, after all, and compared to the brilliance of a thunderstorm I'm, well, lacking.

But there is no question about it. I am a tempest in my own right.

I'm just a free-spirited country southern gal. And to this day I'm not even sure how to write a decent bio page.
I suppose the most important thing you should know about me, is that my life is meaningless without Christ. The reason I'm here is to point you to HIM.

Next thing you should know, is that I am married to my sweetheart and favorite person, Michael. Together we are building the life of our dreams! We got married on December 2, 2017, and yes, married life is pretty darn amazing.

I breathe, think, live musically.  Here are the instruments I currently play.

Piano. (My favoritest of them all, my first love)
Guitar. (My bluegrass addiction)
Accordion. (My outlandish novelty)
Organ. (My itty bit of traditionalism)
Bodhran. (My Irish percussion bliss)
Ukulele. (My fluffy piece of happiness)
Appalachian dulcimer. (My simple hillbilly joy.)
Civil War tension snare drum. (My newest reenacting venture.)
Mandolin. (Just an eensy-weensy bit!)
Le vocal chords. (My own voice, which is a strange and unpredictable thing.)

I am also an ISSA certified personal trainer, as well as an ACE certified group fitness instructor, and love torturing people by making them sweat and generally enhancing their lifestyles.

  1. Leah! I'm glad you friended me on Goodreads. It sounds like we have several things in common (being two-decades old, loving to sing, write, and dream big!). It's nice to "meet" you. :)

  7. Hi Leah!

I really loved reading about you, and it is fun to hear about other teen writers! I, too, am a homeschooled teen who fights as a warrior for our Lord with her writing, and I absolutely loved the Medieval Ages (though I have to say, I prefer Ancient Greece to Rome.) It is really cool that you love knifes and any other type of weapons; I have an obsession with them, too (I just bought my first beautiful dagger for myself, and it is now a prized possession....) And I just have to comment on Civil War reenacting-- the homeschoolers in my area do a Civil War ball every year, and I really look forward to it. Those hoop-skirts are so much fun ;)
Your writing looks wonderful, and it is so cool that you are on an agent search, too. I've just started looking for agents for my own novel, and it is tough.
But the best of luck to you, and God bless!
    Gabrielle

  8. I am so glad I came across your blog!! I have so much in common with you..... I am the oldest of five kids too, the only girl amongst four brothers. Music is very much a passion of mine (I play piano & violin). I love to write & read..... I tend to be a perfectionist too ;). I am a Christian and love Jesus. He is my all! I think we're about the same age too. I turned 19 this February.... I'm homeschooled as well. Wow, I'm so glad I came across this! I always love finding blogs written by people who are like-minded Christians. It's so encouraging to discover blogs like yours out there :). I look forward to reading more of your posts in the future! Blessings, Cara
